How to Get Same-Day Delivery at Local Stores in Your Area
Although same-day delivery is available by stores and restaurants in many cities and metropolitan areas, this innovative service is still not accessible everywhere in the U.S. According to Onfleet 2019 Consumer Survey – The Amazon Effect, “Of more than 1,000 U.S. adults polled, 76% said they would be more likely to order household items locally — instead of from Amazon — if they could get same-day delivery.”
So why are local stores still not offering same-day delivery, you ask? Many reasons can factor into why businesses have not partnered with this growing service. For example, local stores and restaurants might not have the resources to introduce same-day delivery to their customers. Also, they might even lose profit by offering same-day delivery service, or simply the businesses don’t know how to use the new technology.
If you or someone you know is looking to get a same-day delivery service in your area but aren’t sure where to start, here are a few tips to help you get started.
- Find a same-day delivery service courier and contact them about a potential partnership.
- Connect with a merchant who will assist with learning more about your business and if your business would be the perfect fit for this partnership.
- After approval, begin digitizing your in-store menu so consumers can shop online.
- Set up your store. Begin with sending your same-day delivery partner an inventory of the items that would populate your online shopping menu.
- Schedule a few test runs. This will allow for both the business and service courier to get acquainted with the new service.
- Once activated, customers will be able to shop or order items online.
- Create a team or have same-day delivery employees shop these items in your store.
